You can send your completed audit forms to the PMI®'s official address by regular postal mail or express courier service. The PMI® does not accept faxed or emailed audit documents. Participants should send all documents in one envelope to expedite the processing time.

In the event of a failed audit, the certification fee (minus a processing fee) will be refunded. The Certification Department will take further action on a case-by-case basis. If you fail the PMP® application audit, the PMI® will deduct $100 from your application fee, and you will receive a refund of the remaining fees paid.

You must pay the fee when you submit your application form, which is before the audit.

To claim a refund for the PMP® certification, you must place a request with PMI® at least 30 days before the exam eligibility expiry date. PMI® will retain a processing fee of US$100 if you have not scheduled or taken the examination.

The PMI® allows a candidate to attempt the exam up to three times in one calendar year. Focused training programs will help give you the knowledge and experience to prepare for and pass the exam.

It takes four to six weeks to receive the certificate after passing the exam.

The validity of a PMP® Certification is three years.

Once you have met the eligibility criteria, fill up the examination form. You need to create an account on the PMI® website to find the online application form under the “my PMI” section. Once you have started with your online application, you can’t cancel it, but you can save it unfinished and edit any information you already entered. The application form remains open for 90 days. PMI will send you an email reminder so that you can complete your application form during that period. Once you apply, you will receive the acceptance confirmation within a week. Below are the main parameters to be filled in the application form:

• Personal information (name, address, contact info, etc.)

The standard method of PMI examinations is center-based testing (CBT). Paper-based testing (PBT) is available under certain limited circumstances, details are in the “Examination Administration” section below. The PMP examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which 25 are pretest questions. These pretest questions do not affect the final score and are used to test the validity of future examination questions. All of the 200 questions are placed randomly throughout the exam.

• This examination is preceded by a tutorial and followed by a survey. Both are optional and can take up to 15 minutes to complete. The time used to complete both the tutorial and survey are not included in the examination time of four hours.

Examination Administration: Alternative testing options are available in the following instances:

• The distance to a CBT site is more than 240 km (150 miles)
• A CBT site is not available within the country of residence and traveling across country borders is prohibited/unduly burdensome

You can reschedule or cancel the exam at any time until two calendar days before your scheduled exam appointment. However, because of limited seating capacity at the test centers, cancellations and rescheduling the exam will lead to a fee.
